Table-topping Ben Rhydding produced another impressive performance as they moved another step closer to their aim of winning promotion to the Women’s National League.

This latest win, sealed with another six goals, saw them go 12 points clear at the top.

Bowdon have usually proved to be tough opponents for Ben Rhydding but on this occasion they were simply blown away.

When the sides met at Manchester in October there was little between them as Ben Rhydding won 2-1, so such an emphatic victory was unexpected.

Bowdon started strong and their ranks were boosted by two of their regular first team players.

One of them was the reserve Great Britain goalkeeper Kirsty Mackay who was returning from injury.

Initially ben Rhydding found it tough to break Bowdon down and despite a few excellent goalscoring chances they couldn’t find the final ball to beat the Mackay.

Bowdon had their own fair share of chances too. but Rhydding keeper Holly Crank showed her quality and made a string of crucial saves.

Jess Purvis started to enjoy a lot of space down the left and made some mazy runs –, one of which led to the first goal which was tapped in at the far post by Eleanor Trafford.

Rebecca Dallas soon added a second goal after taking the ball round the keeper and cheekily walking the ball over the line.

The second half, at times was like a master class as Ben Rhydding passed and moved at pace when in possession and didn't give Bowdon any time to settle during the few times the visitors got the ball.

Some great composure and passing from Rebecca Fox, Sarah Bell and Amy Wilson ensured the majority of possession for the home side.

Further goals from Emma Thornbury, Jo Ellis (2) and Rachelle le Bourdon sealed another emphatic victory in front of the home crowd.
