Six Ilkley streets to be resurfaced
7:00am Tuesday 7th February 2012

Resurfacing work on six residential streets and unclassified roads in Ilkley has been included in a Bradford Council highway maintenance programme for the coming financial year.
The Council’s Keighley Area Committee last week set its highway maintenance capital programme for non-classified roads for 2012-13 which is likely to cost more than £800,000.
Resurfacing work in Ilkley is expected to cost more than £170,000.
Three schemes on different sections of Ben Rhydding Road were approved by the Keighley committee, at a total cost of about £100,000.
Also on the programme of work is part of Gill Bank Road, the full length of Sedbergh Park and Wells Walk.
At last Thursday’s meeting, committee members agreed to add two more streets, Kings Road and Victoria Avenue, to the programme of work.
Committee member and ward councillor Anne Hawkesworth said after the meeting: “These roads are absolutely dreadful, something needs doing with them. I can’t understand why they weren’t on the list to start off with.”
Surface dressing work on the full length of Brook Street, and a section of Denton Road, was approved as part of a separate schedule of works for the Keighley area.
The committee asked for a progress report on the programme of works at a future meeting.
